DENVER, CO, March 25, 2025: HVS has secured a landmark agreement with Broward County to become Asset Manager for the highly anticipated Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel, effective March 17, 2025. This luxurious, 801-room property is set to open in September 2025 and will serve as the headquarters hotel for the adjoining Broward County Convention Center.
Tom Hazinski, Managing Director of HVS Convention, Sports & Entertainment, said, “We are thrilled to continue our work with Broward County. Fort Lauderdale is a popular destination, and we plan to help the Omni and the Broward County Convention Center reach their full potential in the convention and meetings industry.”
Neil Flavin, the Omni Asset Management Project Leader, commented, “We are excited to work in partnership with both Omni Hotels & Resorts and Broward County officials as this project comes to fruition. I am confident that our experienced team, extensive operational experience, and highly personalized, 24/7 client-focused service will ensure the success of this assignment.”
The Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel draws inspiration from Florida’s diverse landscapes, offering a unique experience. The property will feature 120,000 square feet of meeting space, an outdoor pool deck, and retail outlets. Guests will enjoy state-of-the-art guestrooms, and six dining outlets will offer a variety of service levels and culinary experiences. Mokara, the brand’s signature spa, will serve as an oasis for guests, providing spa treatments, yoga classes, and exclusive “unplug” packages. The hotel tower will boast breathtaking views of the Port Everglades cruise terminal.
As Florida’s first LEED-Gold-certified convention center and the first in North America to adopt the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program, the Broward County Convention Center is set to unveil the final phase of its $1.3-billion expansion by late 2025. Upon completion, the facility will feature a total of 1.2 million square feet of meeting space, including an expansive, six-acre, outdoor plaza with an onsite restaurant and concert venue, as well as enhanced water-taxi access.
This expansion and the new Omni Fort Lauderdale Hotel are projected to contribute $200+ million annually to the local economy, driving convention business, boosting tourism, and creating numerous jobs in Broward County. The economic benefits are already evident, with Fort Lauderdale set to host IPW in May 2026. Organized by the U.S. Travel Association, IPW is the largest international tourism event in the United States. According to Visit Lauderdale, the event is expected to generate a regional economic impact of $14.2+ billion over the next three years, attract 6,000 attendees, create 3,500 jobs, and significantly increase hotel occupancy and tourism revenues by generating over 20,000 room nights.
